A hearing in Melbourne on Thursday night upheld an appeal by Carli against a life ban.
Central Highlands Football League administrator Diane Ryan confirmed that the appeal had been upheld. Ryan said it was now just a matter of sorting out paper work to allow Carli to play again.
Carli, 31, was playing with Buninyong in 2010 when he was deregistered for exceeding the lifetime suspension limit set by AFL Victoria. He said on launching the appeal that if successful, he would return to his former club Smythesdale, where he wanted to take on an assistant coaching role.
Although the transfer window has close for the season, Ryan confirmed was not an issue. Ryan said under AFL Victoria rules, any player who had not played for 24 months did not require a clearance.
Carli said he wanted to wait until after a meeting with the CHFL before speaking about the hearing.
