SPRINGBANK provided Gordon with a reality check in the Central Highlands Football League at Gordon on Saturday.
Gordon had an opportunity to open up a two-game over the likes of Springbank and consolidate in the top four.
However, with Paul McMahon bagging six goals it was a supreme performance by the Tigers as they charged away by a stunning 91 points – 22.9 (141) to 7.8 (50) claim the Jimmy Toohey Memorial Shield.
Instead sitting second on the same points as reigning premier Bungaree, Gordon is fourth and in a log jam on 36 premiership points with Hepburn, Springbank and Buninyong.
Buninyong snuck home by five points over Beaufort in the tightest battle of the round – 9.9 (63) d Beaufort 9.4 (58).
