Certain types of daffodils, jonquils and other blossoms have sprung to life as the winter weather sets in.
City of Ballarat curator Peter Marquand said he hasn't noticed too many daffodils popping up in the Botantical Gardens, although his own backyard is showing some colour.
"I have probably seen more at home than I have at the gardens,” he said.
“The daffodils that have blossomed already are most likely because they are an earlier variety.
"Generally you get most flouring in August-September, but there are some that will pop up earlier around the end of June.”
