THE organisers of the appeal for the Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial in Ballarat should abandon their well-meaning but ill-considered idea.
If it is necessary to add to the plethora of memorials in Australia, the location for a memorial for all the POWs of our nation should be in or near the Australian National War Memorial in Canberra.
The location should not be in a provincial centre which is not even looking after its own statues or memorial pavers adequately.
