Ballarat recorded a peak wind gust of 50 km/h overnight, while more than five millimeters of rain was recorded with the Bureau of Meteorology for Ballarat from 9am Friday to 9am Saturday.
A change will develop later Saturday afternoon, bringing with it a cold front and associated strong winds into the night and early on Sunday morning.
The State Emergency Service has warned of damaging winds between 50 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 km/h forecast to develop later Saturday afternoon and evening for parts of the South West, Wimmera, North East, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland districts.
Ballarat remains on alert for dangerous black ice over the weekend and on Monday as near-zero minimum temperatures combined with more rainfall likely to increase the risk on the region’s roads.
