The Ballarat Olympian clocked a season best time of seven minutes, 39.85 seconds to finish sixth in the men’s 3000 metres in Sainbury’s Anniversary Games this weekend. Hometown hero Mo Farah set the world’s fastest time for the distance with his 7:34.66 win in London’s IAAF Diamond League meet. Eureka athletic club stablemate and Australian 10,000m champion Brett Robinson finished 12th with a time of 7:48.59.
Ryan Gregson ran a 4:01.81 in mile in Dublin’s Morton Games at the weekend. The Australian 1500m record holder represented Ballarat in the Athletics Victoria cross-country relay this season.
Former Ballarat athlete Victoria Mitchell finished second in women’s 3000m steeplechase at the Joensuu Games in China. Mitchell clocked 9:49.44, finishing 0.35 seconds off the winner.
