The awards recognise organisations, students, schools and out-of-school hours learning support programs that aim to improve the education outcomes for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
The awards are presented by the Centre for Multicultural Youth.
A number of Ballarat based programs will be eligible for the awards including the Ballarat Central Uniting Church Homework Club which meets at the city’s library once a week.
Organiser Margaret Littlehales said the group was set up when some parents told the church they had difficulty helping children with their homework.
