The college’s Junior Chamber Choir was formed about 18 months ago and already has 40 students and two large appearances under its belt.
Choir master Michael Murphy said students had to audition to be accepted in the choir.
He said the choir was made up of students in years 7 and 8.
“There is a unique sound that comes from boys which you don’t get from a girl’s choir,” Mr Murphy said.
“The Ballarat community would be quite surprised to learn we have a choir of this calibre.”
Choir member Brandon Moore-Trye said he did not have much singing experience but was successful in joining the choir.
“I’m enjoying it,” Brandon said.
A free concert will be held in the St Patrick’s College chapel on August 5 at 7pm. For tickets, go to www.trybooking.com/IJVB or contact Penny Kaletsch at the music office on 5322 4439.
