A trip to Paris fashion boutique for her 21st birthday was the trigger for Sarah Timmerman, who has revolutionised the way Queenslander fashionistas shop.

Of the experience, Timmerman, 29, said: "It had the most amazing interior and their customer service was amazing, something that has always stuck with me."

On returning home, Timmerman said she realised that "nothing like that existed in Brisbane".

The boutique provides fashion, accessories and homewares products targeted at women aged between 16 and 24.

Signature packaging – a purple branded dust bag, a handwritten postcard and a holographic post bag – gives items a personalised feel.

The approach has worked, with the business attracting more than 1 million social media followers and releasing 55 new products a week.

Ms Timmerman says the exclusive in-house label garments and above-and-beyond, fast-response customer service sets Beginning Boutique apart from rivals.

The business has since moved from the house at Forest Lake to a former ice-cream factory in West End and now employs 15 full-time staff.

Most customers are from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne but Ms Timmerman says she "hopes to have offices in Hong Kong and Los Angeles by 2020".
