Little Bird Cafe, in Sturt Street, is one of the Ballarat cafes participating in the annual Cafe Smart Day, organised by Street Smart Australia.
Each dollar from every coffee sold on Friday August 7 will be donated the cause.
Co-owner Jill Bingham said the cafe would also match the donation on the day.
Guests can also donate via a collection tin at the cafe in the lead up to the fundraising event.
Street Smart Australia will then feed the proceeds into Ballarat community groups who help those in need.
Ms Bingham said she heard about the initiative through her coffee supplier Allpress Espresso.
“We heard about it a couple of weeks ago…. it seems like a really good cause to support,” she said.
“We just want to give back to the community.”
Street Smart Australia has in the past donated money to Eureka Mums, CAFS, WRISC Family Violence Support, Uniting Care, On Track Foundation (Soup Bus) and the Lighthouse Foundation.
PFD, Allpress Espresso and Nunns Dairy have donated supplies for the cafe ahead of Cafe Smart Day.
In 2014, 415 cafes and 20 coffee roasters raised $120,000 to fund 91 community projects Australia-wide.
Street Smart Australia supports grassroots community projects who help people experiencing homelessness or are at risk.
