Forge ended Dela Assuntas’ decade-long domination of The Athlete’s Foot Cup by taking the title.
Assuntas had been chasing a 12th consecutive grand final victory.
Brown Hill coach Annie McCartin said her team was intent on going back-to-back.
The Athlete’s Foot Cup season begins on Tuesday night with four teams making up the competition.
Brown Hill will be joined by the newly branded Dela Oscars, Wendouree Netball Association and Eureka Kellies.
Oscars is the new name for what was previously Assuntas for 13 years.
Coach Jo Dash said the team decided it was time for a new era and the name change was part of that approach.
She said Dela’s focus was still on developing talented players in Ballarat’s highest level domestic competition.
McCartin said Brown Hill would have a new-look combination, linking up Ruby Parry and Sascha McDonald.
She said Forge had also recruited centre/wing attack Mikayla George, while Kat Biscan, Emily Hayes and Gina McCartin would not be playing this season.
Dela has lost Emma Ryan, but welcomes back two of the competition’s most experienced players in Emma Farrell and Cindy Daniel, as well as emerging youngster Katherine O’Dwyer.
Wendouree is looking for build on its first year in the cup, when it finished fourth.
Coach Jordan O’Keefe said Wendouree achieved its initial ambition of being competitive, and a little more before going out in a one-goal loss in an elimination final.
Eureka coach Jenni Nicholls said Kelies had strengthened their line-up with VNL players Amy Conroy, Kelly Conroy and Lauren Jew coming on board.
The season will comprise nine rounds, with the grand final on November 24.
Opening round draw: 6.40pm, Dela Oscars v Eureka Kellies (court 1); Wendouree NA v Brown Hill Forge (court 2) 8.05pm
