The Vikings girls ended a run of two-straight defeats with a 1-0 win against Sunbury Junior United on Sunday.
Lucy Brennan scored Sebastopol’s goal in the first half.
Vikings coach Peter Maggi said his team was under-strength with players injured and unavailable, forcing one of his side’s most prolific scorers – Renee Boag – to play as goal-keeper.
Maggi said under-16 players Tayla Scutcheon and Natalia Ripani were called into the line-up and got some more valuable senior game time.
“It keeps us in the points and it was a good one for those younger girls to experience a higher level,” Maggi said.
Sebastopol, still third on the table and four points behind leaders St Albans Saints, now prepare for a clash against Point Cook this Sunday.
