The Victorian Veterans Council is calling on Ballarat veterans to attend a consultation session on Wednesday to discuss the services available to them and any issues they may have.

The session will take place at the Art Gallery of Ballarat from 3.30-4.30pm.
Organisations which support veterans are also encouraged to participate, with a separate meeting scheduled from 2.30-3.30pm.
Ex-service organisation representatives will be advised on what they see as current and emerging issues for the Ballarat community, with the second part open for all veterans and those who care about them to have their say.
The sessions are part of the VVC’s important state-wide review of the veteran community, which includes meeting with former service personnel and organisations across Victoria.
Retired Rear Admiral, John Lord, AM, who is chair of the Council, said that by contributing to this review veterans will be able to shape advice on what can be done to further ensure their needs are addressed.
“The last review was in 2008 and it is now time to refresh our understanding of the needs, issues and opportunities for Victoria’s veterans, their dependants and the organisations that support them,” he said.
“The 2008 review resulted in the Victorian Government committing $1.35 million toward the construction of crisis accommodation for veterans in need, currently being built in Richmond, Melbourne.”
