That is why her family devised a creative way for her memory to live on.
The Ballarat woman died on August 20, only two-weeks before her 21st birthday.
Her courage, sense of humour and positive attitude during her illness is reflected in her family's action in having 100 purple balloons - her favourite colour - released at her funeral.
Each balloon contained a card with Jasmine's photo, her name and green wattle-tree seeds.
The card asked the finder of the balloon to plant the seeds in Jasmine's memory.
The simple gesture has had a result no one in the family expected.
A Gisborne woman was the first person to find the balloon stuck on a fence on her large property.
The woman rang the local radio station and soon the mystery surrounding the balloon was uncovered.
Jasmine's mother Debra Carpenter was told about the radio interview by a friend and she contacted the radio station.
The pair met at the radio station and several other people who have found balloons have also got in touch with the family.
Balloons have also been found in Buangor and Mt Doran.
The finders have all agreed to plant the trees in Jasmine's memory and to raise awareness about leukaemia.
"It was a lovely way to let her spirit be set-free after all the pain she had gone through," Ms Carpenter said.
"It has also made people talk about leukaemia on the radio, and with their friends."
Jasmine was diagnosed with leukaemia a few weeks after her 18th-birthday in September 1999.
Throughout her illness she put on a brave-face and worried about the toll it was having on her family, her mother said.
Jasmine never gave up on her dreams of pursuing photography and being a masseur, Ms Carpenter said.
Her family would encourage anyone who has found a purple-balloon to get in contact with them.
"We'd love to know where they have gone, and hope people take the time to plant the seeds," Ms Carpenter said.
