Wallabies inside-centre Matt Giteau is wise enough in age and experience to understand the dangers of saying there are weaknesses in the All Blacks game.

But the 32-year-old veteran of 93 Tests, whose most recent outing was the win over the Springboks in Brisbane on July 18, certainly backs the Wallabies team to deliver, judging from what he has seen since he returned from his four-year stint with French club Toulon.

Giteau, who missed the July 25 Test against Argentina to recover from what was a bruising Springboks game, is set to take on the All Blacks at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Saturday night for the first time since October 30, 2010, in Hong Kong, a thrilling 26-24 win.

When asked on Wednesday after speaking highly of the team's progress under coach Michael Cheika, if he saw weaknesses in the world No.1 All Blacks, Giteau smiled and replied: "I wouldn't say weaknesses. But I think there's opportunity that we feel, if we are good enough and we execute well enough, that we can put some points on the board."

Much has been said of the expected physicality for Saturday's Rugby Championship decider and the first of two Bledisloe Cup Tests. But for all the insights and opinions, Giteau's view carries plenty of weight, considering he admits he has not only taken a beating in his one Test back for Australia against the Springboks, but also in training where Cheika has executed his trademark edge to contact work.

"That first couple of weeks I thought these boys don't like me too much. It's been physical," Giteau said.  "It was tough. It's been a different style of training that I've been used to …

"Certainly since I have been in France. It's been good. It's intense. It's game specific. It's preparing you for what's going to be a really physical game."

On how he has found the intensity of Test rugby now compared to when he last played it in 2011, he said: "I don't know if I've lost a lot, or if it's gone up a lot; but it's definitely been tough.

"Training has been hard, the games are hard. But that's why it's called Test football. You test yourself. There is always a time within a game where you are tested as a team and as an individual.

"My first outing against the Springboks was tough, but I got through it and enjoyed it."

Giteau, who still rates playing the All Blacks as "the pinnacle in world rugby", laughed when asked if he feels that he is the elder statesman in the Wallabies squad.

"I definitely feel I am … I'm the elder one there, without question," he said.
