BCC overcame St Patrick’s College 2-1 at Morshead Park on Wednesday to end a 16-year drought. This is Ballarat Clarendon College’s first outright soccer title since 1999.
Josh Wilson Brown scored twice for College to be among the better players with Tom Callahan and Wes Plange.
Will McLoughlin found the back of the net for St Pat’s to be in the team’s best with Dennis Heinke, Jake Selby and Josh De Voogel.
Under the guidance of co-coaches Michael Cachia and Stephan Fields, BCC took the lead midway through the first half after a solo effort by Wilson Brown. He doubled the lead early in the second half. It was not until the last five minutes that St Pat’s got on the board.
Cachia said four months of hard work and commitment had paid off with the ultimate prize. He said it had been a real squad effort with more than 20 students contributing.
