A joint initiative of the Victorian Bands League and Royal South Street Eisteddfod, this year commemorated the centenary of Anzac.
“Being the state championships, this is the most hotly contested competition we have,” president of Victorian Bands League, Megan Stapleton said.
“The bands play one piece of set music and this year all the pieces have been based around the Anzac theme and are by Australian or New Zealand composers.”
A total of 28 brass and concert bands from all over Victoria converged on Ballarat throughout the weekend, including local competitors.
Mark Ford was this year’s adjudicator.
