A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of Doncaster schoolgirl Masa Vukotic.

Sean Price was charged with the teenager's murder. His lawyer, Emily Clark, announced the decision to plead guilty on Monday morning in the Melbourne Magistrates Court.

Charges against Price were listed for a committal mention, but when the case was called Ms Clark announced that the matter had resolved.

Crown prosecutor Michele Williams, QC, confirmed the resolution.

Price, sporting a Mohican-style hair cut, was flanked by a prison officer when he appeared on the screen at the resumption of the case.

Mr Rozencwajg noted that there were nine charges with six of them to be struck out as withdrawn by the prosecution.

Ms Williams then said there would be guilty pleas to the three remaining charges, which Mr Rozencwajg noted were murder, robbery and rape.

Addressing Price, he said there was sufficient evidence to support convictions for the three offences and when asked how he pleaded he replied "guilty" quickly to murder and robbery.

Price then paused when asked his plea to the rape before he said "not guilty".

"I didn't do it," Price said to which Mr Rozencwajg said he had a right to that course.

Ms Williams responded that it had been agreed the case would proceed on the basis of the withdrawal of the other charges and that the rape charge was part of "series of offences" and was linked "in some ways".

Mr Rozencwajg said that the rape charge could be listed in the Supreme Court at a directions hearing, but Ms Williams said her instructions were "very specific" that that charge was to remain (and
not be withdrawn).

Having been read the formal caution about his right to call alibi evidence on the rape charge, Price lifted his handcuffed wrists and began a stream of comments that included "it's just a joke", "you're all on the same side" and "bullshit legal terminology".

When he did not stop, Mr Rozencwajg sought to cut the audio from the prison, then resumed the formalities of ordering Price to appear later at a directions hearing for the rape charge.

With Price continuing to talk, Mr Rozencwajg said he would deal with some ancillary matters and cut the video link.

The hearing will later resume on media access to the hand up brief of evidence.

Masa, 17, was fatally stabbed while walking along Koonung Creek Linear Reserve in March. She was only five minutes from home when she was killed.

The Canterbury Secondary College VCE student was was on her regular early evening walk when she was attacked.

Her murder sparked an outpouring of grief.

At her funeral in March, her family - father Slabvoljub, mother Natasa, brother Petar and sister Nadja - said Masa dreamed of being a lawyer for the debate and the discussion, but also for the suits and the lattes.

They described her as the "princess of selfies", a girl with "sparkling big eyes" who took four winter coats on a trip so she wouldn't be photographed in the same jacket twice.

Her best friend, Madison Stone, said Masa was ambitious and driven, but also a dreamer who was loud, manic and boisterous.
