King, who will reach triple figures in games played for the McDonalds Reds on Saturday, has learned to relish his role in defence.
He hasn’t found the back of the net since 2011, but stopping opposition goals serves as more of a reward nowadays for the loyal Reds servant.
“I feel more comfortable in the backline to be honest, but in saying that I really like to get forward and love a goal,” King said.
Although thrilled to play his 100th game in Reds colours, King said the team performance was far more important this week.
The Reds meet Melbourne City as they vye for promotion back up to the NPLV.
Ballarat is currently second in NPLV! west and needs to remain in that spot to qualify for a promotion playoff match.
“It’s a huge match this week up against City, we need to keep winning to stay in the playoff race,” he said.
