Enthusiastic grade five and six green thumbs planted a range of small plants around the school’s hall on Friday.
The project was held in conjunction with Bunnings Ballarat, which assists schools around the region each year.
“We try to get involved at least one school,” Ballarat Bunnings horticulturalist Kelly Baker said.
“We’ve come to treach them how to plant, get them in the garden and get their hands dirty.”
Celebrating 20 years, Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day takes place every year and is a chance for school students impact positively on the environment.
Meanwhile, National Tree Day began in 1996, with more than 3 million people getting involved for the plantation of more than 21 million trees since its inception.
It aims to to inspire Australians to actively care for the land and demonstrates the benefits of interaction with nature.
