WestVic earned a double chance by finishing second in the men’s second division, while its women’s division two team will play a cut-throat final after dropping to third with a last round defeat.
With a top-two finish already locked in, WestVic warmed up for the men’s state league finals with a 3-1 win over ninth-placed Dandenong.
Ewan Wallin went on his scoring way with another hattrick of goals.
WestVic now takes on top team PEGS in a qualifying final. They drew 4-all last time they met.
Casey inflicted some late pain on the WestVic women with a 2-0 scoreline.
WestVic went into the round 18 encounter in second position and two premiership points clear of Casey.
However, the result reversed the positions.
Injuries took a toll on WestVic in the second half. With two players sidelined, this left it with just one interchange player - a factor which hurt.
WestVic now plays Werribee, which its beat once and drew with on an other occasion during the season.
