The Rangers needed a win over their struggling counterparts to all but guarantee fourth spot on the Ballarat and District Soccer Association division one table, and they delivered with a 6-0 result at Wendouree West on Sunday.
Michael Lockyer netted five goals for the winners to help the team finish three points clear of Vic Park, which lost 3-1 to bottom side North United.
That means Rangers will take on Warrnambool in a knockout semi final this Saturday.
Sebastopol Vikings warmed up for their semi final with Ballarat with a 2-1 win over the league champions. The teams will meet again Sunday with a place in the grand final at stake.
In the women’s division one, Forest Rangers take on Vic Park in a do-or-die semi final this Saturday before Warrnambool and North United White clash on Sunday.
