The Vikings earned the rise after Sunday’s 11-1 triumph over Brimbank Stallions, which lifted the side to second place on the table on goal difference and into state league three next year.
Entering the final-round clash, the Vikings knew they needed goals and plenty of them to bridge the gap on second-placed Altona Magic.
And the Vikings were able to claw back the five-goal difference that separated the teams on the table, with Altona only managing a 4-1 win over Sunbury United Junior.
Renee Boag scored four goals and Ashley Blackburn three to lead the Vikings to victory, while Tiarna Van Gils, Kiera-Lee Williams, Lucy Brennan and Tammy Barry all found the net in a quality display.
That left the Vikings to finish the season in second place, two goals clear of Altona.
“As a coach, I’m elated to have such a great team to work with, but the skill level of these girls in sensational,” Vikings coach Peter Maggi said.
“From the club point of view, it justifies having Michael (Busija) there as our technical director and it justifies the time and effort we put into training the girls and having them come through.”
