Students at the college’s Wendouree campus planted more than 100 native trees at the edge of the school oval on Wednesday.
The tree planting day was an initiative of the college’s Conservation Committee, which has been working on a number of projects over the past year.
The committee raised money to purchase the trees through a recycling program with PaperFreight.
Committee members and year 9 students Jake Cunningham and Ryan Quayle said students in all year levels had got on board to help the environment.
“The year 7’s will watch the trees grow as they grow. We are hoping the trees will grow as our school grows,” Jake said.
Ryan said the new trees were chosen to suit the Wendouree environment and would attract birds like the black cockatoo.
The committee plans to hold more tree planting days and invite primary schools pupils in the area to help.
