Mirroring the same situation as last year, pressure is mounting on the council to release the results of the Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey which was issued to it by the state government in June.
The survey is an annual report which examines Victorian councils on their overall performance, customer service and advocacy.
All surrounding shires including the City of Greater Bendigo, Golden Plains Shire, Hepburn Shire and Moorabool Shire have released their council performance results to the public, with some shires completing this process more than a month ago.
In July, Ballarat Councillor Vicki Coltman made a request to the city’s chief executive Anthony Schinck that the findings are given to councillors as soon as possible so the report can be made public.
The survey is an annual report which examines Victorian councils on their overall performance, customer service and advocacy.
This year, 69 of Victoria’s 79 councils participated.
Last year, the survey was handed to council in July but it controversially withheld results from the public until October.
Results for last year found there was a huge drop in “overall council direction.”
But it also found the council was leading the way in customer service ranking among the best in the state in business development and community and cultural events.
When The Courier asked the City of Ballarat what the delays in releasing the findings of the survey were due to, it declined to comment.
In a statement to The Courier, the council said councillors would view the results of the survey at an assembly meeting on Wednesday night.
It said a full analysis would then be made available on the City of Ballarat website.
Ballarat mayor John Philips could not be reached before The Courier’s deadline. Cr Coltman could also not be reached as she is on a leave of absence.
