Lynx, which was previously the West Coast Waves, will take on Bendigo Spirit at the Minerdome on Sunday, September 20.
The encounter will be Bendigo’s second game in Ballarat in as many days and the finale to an NBL and WNBL festival in the city. Spirit also faces another WNBL rival Melbourne Boomers on Saturday, September 19.
These fixtures will come a week after NBL rivals Melbourne United and Cairns Taipans clash at the Minerdome on Saturday, September 12.
United and Boomers are anchoring the visits with community and training camps.
Basketball Ballarat’s events and business development officer Jason Rossi has confirmed the club’s itineraries will feature a series of school visits and coaching clinics.
Rossi said it was important to have high profile players interacting with the community while in town.United will arrive in Ballarat on Thursday, September 10,
He said United would visit Yuille Primary School and Ballarat Secondary College on Thursday, and Ballarat Specialist School and Ballarat High School on Friday.
He said these visits had been planned around training and gym sessions, as well as specialist coaching sessions with Ballarat under-12 representative players.
“It’s great that United is willing to engage with our community as they see this as a growth area to nuture an expanded supporter base.”
Cairns, featuring former Ballarat Miners Shaun Bruce and Ash Constable, will arrive late next Friday, with their head coach Aaron Fearne heading straight to a coaching clinic with a group emerging coaches representing each Ballarat club.
Melbourne Boomers, coached by former Miners mentor Guy Molloy, will make their way to Ballarat on Friday, September 18.
The Boomers’ management team will attend a women in sport luncheon hosted by Basketball Ballarat in conjunction with City of Ballarat, while players visit Delacombe Primary School.
They will have a training session on the Friday night.
Ballarat wheelchair team will also be involved in the Boomers’ visit.
It will play Geelong in a curtain-raiser to the WNBL practice game against Bendigo.
