Several suspicious items were seized from the Kenny Dr home yesterday morning as forensic officers scoured the property in the hunt for clues as to the suspicious disappearance of Johann Morgan.
The 40-year-old mother-of-four disappeared without a trace on August 8, and almost a month on, police believe someone is hiding something.
“All records show she hasn’t touched any accounts, made no phone calls or anything like being in touch with family or friends, so given that from our investigation and examination at Cole Rd, we believe Johann may have met with foul play,” Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy said yesterday.
Detectives from Strike Force Chiltern – the police operation set up in the wake of Ms Morgan’s disappearance – have already examined several items of interest found at Ms Morgan’s Cole Rd home.
The site where an early-model station wagon, owned by an extended family member, was combed after it was found burnt out on the Oxley Highway, 17km west of Tamworth.
It could take weeks before police receive the forensic results of testing carried out the Kenny Dr home yesterday.
“It’s part of the investigation. There are people at the premises that are associated with Johann and that’s resulted in police executing a crime scene warrant,” Detective Acting Inspector Darcy said.
“We believe the car is connected to Johann’s disappearance and that gives us further weight that she may have met with foul play.”
Detectives, homicide investigators, police diver, sniffer dogs, operation Support Group and Target Action Group have been involved in several searches of areas in the Coledale and Bective areas.
Detective Acting Inspector Darcy yesterday issued a fresh call for help.
“If they have seen anything suspicious in the last month or whilst they’re on their properties, or their bores, creeks or dams, just to have a look if they find anything suspicious please let us know.”
Detectives have spoken with a number of people but some are refusing to cooperate with the police investigation.
“Unfortunately there is a number of people that haven’t been too forthcoming with information,” Detective Acting Inspector Darcy said.
“We believe there is several people who have information that can basically crack this case and lead us to where or what’s happened to Johann. And we again appeal to those people to come forward and for the sake of the Morgan family let us know where Johann is or what’s happened to Johann.”
