A BALLARAT police officer will be one of the slower participants in October’s Run Ballarat fundraiser, according to his daughters.
Acting Senior Sergeant Joe Cahir will participate with daughters Esse, 21, and Eliza, 18, to raise money for the redevelopment of the Ballarat Base Hospital children’s ward.
To be held on Sunday, October 21, Run Ballarat has already raised more than $58,000.
Acting Senior Sergeant Cahir said his motive was to raise awareness for White Ribbon Day – the campaign to stop violence against women.
He said Run Ballarat fell about a month before White Ribbon Day (November 25) and was an ideal lead-in event.
“We’re running to raise money for the hospital, but also to raise awareness about White Ribbon Day,” he said.
