THERE is hard luck selection stories out of the Buninyong and Daylesford camps ahead of tomorrow’s Central Highlands Football League grand final.
Both clubs made changes to the teams that prevailed in last weekend’s preliminary finals.
The Bombers dropped veteran Daniel Gunn in favour of small forward Tom Nankivell, while the Bulldogs, as expected, lefRt out injurRed onballer Cade O’Brien.
Dual premiership player O’Brien, who sustained a hamstring strain late in last Sunday’s win over Bungaree, was replaced in the starting side by Justin Watkins.
Aidan Mill is the Daylesford emergency, with Gunn and Nick Avery on notice for Buninyong.
Both Gunn and Avery will play in the Bombers’ reserves grand final against Waubra if not required for the senior clash.
Buninyong is heading into its first senior grand final since 2003 this weekend, while Daylesford is preparing for its sixth in succession.
The two teams have met once during the season, with the Bombers prevailing by 14 points back in round six.
Tomorrow’s other football clashes will see Springbank take on Daylesford in the under-18s and Beaufort and Dunnstown do battle in the under-15s.
Six netball grand finals, headlined by the A-grade encounter between Springbank and Hepburn, will run concurrently with the football.
