THE Regent Hotel has always been one of Ballarat's favourite watering holes, but at one point it might have served more than just drinks.
The discovery of old corsets, women's shoes and magazines in the upstairs ceiling of the hotel during a recent renovation suggests it may have had somewhat of a chequered past.
Local historian Barry Ryan has spent all year delving into the fascinating history of the hotel, which is currently undergoing a vast transformation.
