BALLARAT will host Australia's newest women's cycling race next month.
The Tour of the Goldfields will be the sixth and deciding leg of the Subaru National Road Series, the final of the road season, and serve as a major hit-out for the Cycling Australia Road National Championships in January.
Cycling Australia, Cycling Victoria and Ballarat Regional Tourism unveiled the three-day event this morning.
Cycling Victoria general manager Kipp Kaufmann said the tour was another feather in the cap for Ballarat, the home of Australian road cycling.
Kaufmann said the event was a great way to promote women's cycling and worked in perfectly with the Ballarat cycling schedule.
The Tour of the Goldfields will include a criterium at Victoria Park, a 20-kilometre team time trial and road race at Lake Burrumbeet and a 100km general classification decider road race in Snake Valley.
