It’s for this reason, Mr Chapman organised the city’s first Walk for Stroke on Saturday morning at Lake Wendouree. It attracted almost 300 people and raised hundreds of dollars for the National Stroke Foundation.
“The impacts of having a stroke for the person are devastating,” Mr Chapman said.“It’s debilitating.. it leaves patients with disabilities and affects family and friends.”
Mr Chapman said making people aware of the leading causes including high cholesterol or blood pressure and atrial fibrillation also known as an irregular heartbeat can reduce the risk.
