Promising North Ballarat Roosters show their skills

PROMISING North Ballarat Roosters get a chance to showcase their skills in the third annual AFL Victoria Young Guns game.

Coleman Schache (Hopetoun), Sam Conroy (Hepburn), Cam Valentine (Moama) and Lucas Anderson (Donald) have been called up for the exhibition clash, which will play as a curtain raiser to tomorrow’s Victorian Football League preliminary final between Werribee and Geelong.

The match was introduced to create further chance for player exposure to AFL clubs and recruiters.

Players are selected from the TAC Cup, VFL and other nominated leagues.

Schache, Conroy, Valentine and Anderson will suit up together in the “green team”.

The Young Guns match has helped unearth some AFL draftees, including North Ballarat Rebel Tom McDonald and former St Patrick’s College footballer Dan Nicholson who were both recruited to Melbourne.

The AFL Victoria Development League grand final between Box Hill and Coburg will be played as curtain raiser to today’s VFL preliminary final between Port Melbourne and Williamstown.

Matches will be played at North Port Oval.
