Lung Foundation Australia piloted a campaign in the region raising awareness on when to avoid hospital admission for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which encompasses emphysema, chronic bronchitis and chronic asthma.
Western Victoria Primary Health Network chief executive officer Jason Trethowan said partnering with the Lung Foundation had been a great way to draw attention regionally to lung disease.
“Many people are admitted unnecessarily to hospital when their conditions worsen,” Mr Trethowan said. “This is a good example where a GP (general practitioner) can help.”
