CANDIDATES for next month’s local government elections in Ballarat will come together for a special forum on September 30.
Organised by the Ballarat Residents and Ratepayers Association, the forum aims to provide voters with additional information on candidates and policies in each of the city’s wards.
BRRA president Elisa Backer said the event was organised following recent dissatisfaction with decisions made by the current council including the redevelopment of Civic Hall.
“The council election provides the community with an important opportunity to vote for councillors to take Ballarat in a new direction,” she said. “It is important that voters have the best possible opportunity to understand who the candidates are.” The independently facilitated forum will include pre-registered questions from the community.
The forum will be take place at the University of Ballarat SMB campus, Brewery Lecture Theatre from 2-4pm on September 30. For information visit www.brra.org.au.
