Seven Network spokeswoman Susan Wood said the studio filled with ankle-deep water after the boiler exploded.
"[We] were in the studio at 5.45pm and getting to go live at 6pm," Ms Wood said.
"There was a thud and then sounds of gushing water.
"We had to pick up everything and relocate to the newsroom."

Ms Wood said the situation could have easily turned dangerous as the studio floor was littered with electric cables.
"The valve [in the boiler] had lost its will to live," she said.
"The water flooded through the bottom floor ...[and into the studio]."
Ms Wood said it was all hands on deck with journalists, researchers, and presenters, including Kate Jones and Nick McCullum, trying to mop up the water.

"Peter [Mitchell] stood in the middle of the newsroom and he did the news from there under the worst possible circumstances," she said.
"He held the scripts in his hands and off he went.
"He didn't miss a beat."

Ms Wood said the team was "incredible" and held it all together.
"It was our version of the grand final and we walked away with the trophy."
A team of engineers were assessing the situation, along with a team of cleaners to have the studio ready before 6am on Saturday.
Thanks to everyone for their best wishes tonight. Our #7NewsMelb team really pulled it together at very short notice to get us to air!— Peter Mitchell (@Peter_Mitchell7)
