The funding was announced on Monday as part of Mental Health Week.
Services are able to apply for up to $500,000 for building works to improve physical amenity, space and safety as part of the funding announcement.
Up to $500,000 of the funding will be available for Mental Health Safety and Privacy Grants, to fund the installation of electronic swipe system locks for people staying in community-based mental health services.
Minister for Mental Health Martin Foley said the government wanted to establish “world-leading” care for Victorians experiencing mental health problems.
“This investment will help community-based services to meet contemporary standards, and improve treatment for the people they serve,” he said. “These grants will be awarded to the mental health and alcohol and drug services that need them most.”
