Police closed the road at Dean for several hours until the blaze was contained.
Five hectares was burnt through at a fire at Gordon, and a fire at Ferrers Road, Dereel, had six units sent out to control the blaze.
The fires were brought under control Tuesday afternoon, with the causes yet to be determined. Crews remained on-site for some hours blacking out the remaining pockets.
The advice to Dereel residents was withdrawn as of last night with the area no longer under any threat.
A smaller fire also rose up at Dunnstown, which had started as a property-owner burnoff, and required three brigades to extinguish. A blaze in Browns Road, Scarsdale, required four units.
Other small fires blazed at Gillies Road in Bald Hill, Colac-Ballarat Road at Enfield, Springs Road in Brown Hill, Linton-Carngham Road in Snake Valley and Wurrook Road at Rokewood.
Further afield at Lancefield, residents were advised they were in danger and to seek shelter as a fast-moving bushfire raged out of control in Cobaw.
Meanwhile, the wild weather damaged powerlines in Mount Clear, with 103 residents left without power for several hours.
Powercorp spokesman Drew Douglas said the company planned to restore electricity to the homes by 6pm last night after high winds damaged electricity lines.
