Harriers, Eureka, Wendouree and YCW will again be contesting 10 rounds in the Athletics Victoria Shield.
As well as the statewide competition which culminates in a statewide final at Albert Park, the quartet will be vying aggregate bragging rights on the home front.
The BRAC season will again feature some twilight meets, which have been scheduled for the hotter months, and Thursday evenings, which free up weekends for athletes.

BRAC president Rod Griffin is keen to see increase particpation in the open age competition.
“Athletics is the most exciting, diverse and vibrant sport there is.
“Track and field offers 32 different events – ranging from the 100 metres to discus to decathlon.
“Athletics is a sport that offers opportunities for everyone, whether you want to run, jump or throw, coach, measure or time,” Griffin said.
Ballarat coach and athlete Nev Down also spoke enthusiastically about the sport. ahead of a new track and field season
“It’s a great way to get fit, remain healthy and meet new friends. Athletics is a family oriented sport.
“Track and Field is for everyone. It’s open to males and females of any age and all levels of ability. We have an event for all body shapes and sizes,” Down said.
He said track and field in Ballarat had a rich and proud history of Olympians and international performers.
“However, we pride ourselves in welcoming all-comers, regardless of their level of ability or impairment.
“The graded competition allows athletes to compete against others of similar ability,” Down said.
The inter-club meets cater for under-14, under-16, under-18, open, 40-plus and 50-plus.
They are complemented in the city by Ballarat Little Athletics Centre on Saturday mornings, and Wendouree and YCW junior club competitions on Friday nights.

The Victorian Country Track and Field Championships will be over three days at Geelong on January 22-24.
