Time to ‘paws’ for a cause and say thank you to the teams that look after your pet’s every need in Vet Nurse appreciation day on Friday.
Eureka Veterinary Hospital senior nurse Liz Storer said a vet nurse’s role was really diverse, which surprised most of the general public. Ms Storer said nurses must be adept at helping vets in surgery, comforting a wide species of patients and professional and sympathetic with people.
“Many people do not realise the extent of our knowledge. You’ll find in most clinics the person behind the desk is more than a receptionist, they are a vet nurse and can help with advice. If we don’t know the answer, we work as a team and are support each other,” Ms Storer said. “We’re also very compassionate – we get to know our patients really well but we also have a great love of the people behind our patients, too.”
