The Miners put their latest offer to Booker, who is home in the US, on Monday.
Basketball Ballarat elite teams administrator Melissa Thomas said the Miners expected a response by Friday.
She said the Miners remnained hopeful of re-signing Booker.
Thomas said each party was keen to see Booker back in Ballarat in 2016 when he left for the US.
He initially had hoped to get a playing contract in the NBL, but was unsuccessful after trying out with Adelaide 36ers.
As well as being one of the SEABL's best - he was selected in this year's all-star team and was the Miners' most valuable player - Booker worked well in the community as an ambassador for the program.
Ballarat's other import Greg Thondique, who arrived midway through last season, will not be returning for the Miners.
