Former Gold Coast Sun Alik Magin headlines the heavy recruiting campaign, coming to terms to play with the Lions next year.
Magin played eight games for the Suns, mainly as a half-forward, after being taken at pick 80 in the 2010 national draft.
He was delisted at the end of the 2012 season, before playing for Bendigo Gold until its demise at the end of the 2014 season.
He spent last year playing with Kyneton in the Bendigo Football League.
The 24-year-old will come to Sunbury as a five-point player under the new player points system, with the maximum six points only awarded to those who have played an AFL game in the previous three seasons.
Sunbury’s recruiting spree does not end there, however.
The Lions have also secured ex-Greater Western Sydney rookie Joe Redfern as an aligned player, although it remains unclear how much they will see of him throughout the season.
Sunbury snuck into the finals in the last two seasons, found out by bigger and more experienced teams in the first round of both finals series. The addition of the two former AFL footballers, plus a number of other signings already locked away will add more experience to the young Lions list.
They have also signed Shepparton United forward Jesse McInneny, Sunshine’s Ben McInneny, Hilldside’s Chris Tsardakis and Roger Allen from Sunbury Kangaroos.
