CENTRAL Highlands Football League coaching great Shane Robertson is on the move.
The four-time Hepburn premiership coach will take over at the helm of Goulburn Valley Football League side Seymour next season.
Robertson makes the move after stepping into a breach to oversee Hepburn in the latter part of this season.
Burras president Jason Olver confirmed Robertson’s decision yesterday, saying the 48-year-old will leave a strong legacy at the club where he served for more than eight years.
“He showed the players what work ethic is all about and what rewards can come from it,” Olver said.
Robertson, a premiership player with Carlton, stood down from his role with the Burras at the end of 2011, but returned in a caretaker role after the departure of coach Troy Auld mid-way through this season.
Robertson led the club to the minor premiership before it was sent packing in the preliminary final by Buninyong.
Robertson, who has also coached Castlemaine to a senior flag, will take over a Seymour outfit that finished the regular season in sixth on the ladder.
The Lions will play in this Sunday’s preliminary final against Shepparton United.
Hepburn has already advertised for a new coach, and Olver said it was actively speaking with potential candidates.
“It’s a perfect time for a new coach to come in and take advantage of the hunger the players have after the preliminary final loss,” Olver said.
“Now the challenge is there.
“We’re no longer the best side in the competition, we are third or fourth best,” he said.
