Many ratepayers have exercised their democratic rights in regard to the future of the Civic Hall building by expending a great deal of time and energy by signing petitions, sending letters, joining the march, participating in forums, etc. Now we are being told to pretend we are in The Sound of Music and to "start at the very beginning" when the new council begins its term.
Such an comment in response to these activities is nothing short of amazing.
If the new council is to have any credibility with the citizens of Ballarat it will need to demonstrate interest in the issue of the Civic Hall and some commitment to take the action which has been so clearly shown to be the wish of the people.
