As councillors you have been elected by your respective community to the responsible position of representing all Pyrenees Shire residents.
You are not doing that. You have repeatedly heard residents speak of their health issues since the Waubra wind farm commenced operation. You have also heard their deep concerns and frustration which have not been addressed by council.
You have heard people like me saying - "stand up for these people, respect their situation".
As the responsible authority you should be pursuing and supporting an independent health study. You are each in a position of responsibility where your voice will be heard more than ours.
You can each believe what you like about wind turbines, however you cannot ignore sick people in your community, whatever the context, including when it is directly related to wind towers. I will continue to stand up for people suffering Wind Turbine Syndrome and I will support those who are affected by the Stockyard Hill development if it is built.
I ask each of you to actively stand up for the people of this shire who have health challenges from wind turbines.
Stop treating them like second-rate citizens and start treating them with compassion, dignity and respect. I ask as councillors that you work towards a solution to this terrible community health tragedy.
As councillors if you do not listen and act you will leave a tragic legacy to this shire.
