To be performed by The Ivy Stone Assembly, the show will take place at Suttons House of Music and will celebrate the female soul and blues legends of the 1950s and beyond.
The ensemble will pay tribute to such artists as Amy Winehouse, Ruth Brown, Koko Taylor, Dusty Springfield and more.
The Ivy Stone Assembly’s Stephen Hyde said the gig would be a special musical journey honouring the women who made the blues.
“Blues music is well-known as one of the purest forms of musical expression. Many male blues singers were able to succeed and profit from singing the blues, but the story was often different for women blues singers,” he said.
“For the women, the road to success was long and hard and often came at great personal cost.
“They fought to the top of a male-dominated industry to become modern day musical icons.
The Ivy Stone Assembly blends musical textures of 1950s rhythm and blues, soul and swinging jazz to create a unique infusion of melody, roots, rhythms and urban grooves.
The band will perform on Friday, November 20 at 8pm. Entry is free. For more information, visit www.suttonshouseofmusic.com.au
