That's why this year the Jiggety-Jig Farmers Market will take place.
To celebrate, the Jiggety-Jig team will be serving a "tasty gourmet treat" to reflect the flavours of Ballarat.
Local artisans, Basilio Sourdough's Georgio Basilio and Country Style Small Goods' Sebastian Jurcan will use two key ingredients, potatoes and sausages, to create a unique Ballarat variation of the humble sausage in bread.
Inspired by Ballarat's produce icon, the potato, Mr Basilio will be baking fresh potato sourdough loaves for the base.
Mr Jurcan will join the kitchen, adding his gourmet pepperberry pork sausage inspired by a secret family recipe.
Ballarat chef Suzi Fitzpatrick will then add the cherry on top ... a caramelised onion and thyme jus gravy.
The sausages in bread will be available for $5 on the day.
26 local producers including Goldfields Farmhouse Cheese and Tarna Valley Pork will also be showcasing their locally grown and made food.
Those attending will also have the chance to speak directly with producers and learn more about the food they eat.
The market will kick off at 9am on Saturday, November 21 in the Cattle Pavillion at the Ballarat Showgrounds. Cost: FREE.
