THERE is a Redan versus the east flavour about all three of tomorrow's Ballarat Football League grand finals.
Apart from the seniors, Redan has teams in the reserves and the under-18.5 season deciders.
Redan president Darryl Blomeley says it is an outstanding result for the club regardless of the outcome of the three matches.
"The club is strong because of the depth of the reserves and the under-18.5s," Blomeley says.
"The great thing is everyone is getting a game even if they aren't selected for the seniors."
Evidence of Redan's depth in the reserves is Adrian Meyer, a senior premiership player last year who played most of this season in the firsts.
Dan Colbert, similarly, will line up in the under-18.5 grand final.
Redan's opponent in the reserves is Darley, which will field a team with an under-16.5 player (Mitch Gillespie) and an under-18.5 player (Bradley Barnes) in addition to two 38-year-olds, Kane Stewart and Travis Stephenson.
"We'd be the underdog being beaten so well in the first final by 70 points," Darley reserves coach Michael Delahey says.
"But we've changed the side a bit and we're quietly confident.
"Since last time we've got back Clinton Young and Brett O'Bree and they'll allow those other guys like Zane Dix and Shannon McDonald to give us a bit more drive.
"It's a grand final, we're 50-50."
In the under-18.5s it is Bacchus Marsh challenging the might of Redan.
Undefeated in the home and away season, the Cobras were tossed by the Lions in the first final before beating North Ballarat City in the semi-final and then Sebastopol in the preliminary final.
"It turned it out it might have been a blessing," Bacchus Marsh coach Adam Sutherland said.
"You learn a lot more from a loss than a win. Redan exposed us in some areas we've been able to work on."
