The 70 prep pupils made toy trains last Thursday with the help of specialist teacher Les Beacham as part of their inquiry into ‘how things move’.
After building and decorating the trains, the pupils will sell them at the school’s annual Christmas fair to raise funds for the 3BA Christmas Appeal.
Teacher Catherine Moody said pupils had enjoyed exploring how things moved.
“We have been doing an inquiry about how things move, different shapes and different sizes. We have explored that through toys,” Ms Moody said.
Mr Beacham said the pupils understood the handmade toy trains would be sold to help other children in need.
“They have accepted the fact that they have made something and will give it away,” Mr Beacham said.
The toy trains will be for sale at the Black Hill Christmas fair on December 14.
The annual 3BA Christmas Appeal supports Ballarat families in need.
