The courageous defender is a chance to be selected in either the pre-season or rookie drafts.
Thirty-year-old Adcock has been training with the Western Bulldogs after being delisted by Brisbane at the end of the season.
It was a surprise move by the Lions, given that Adcock was a former club captain in seasons 2013 and 2014.
He played 206 games for the Lions and enjoyed a career-best season in 2007, when he received an All-Australian nomination.
Adcock, who collected 21 disposals and kicked four goals in his final match for the Lions, was drafted from the Rebels with pick 33 in 2003.
Former Rebel Nick O’Brien will also be hoping for an AFL lifeline.
The tall midfielder was discarded by Essendon in November after four years at the club.
O’Brien, who was taken with pick 59 in the 2011 draft, only managed a total of 14 games for the Bombers but had a strong second half of the year, playing nine games and averaging 22 disposals.
The Rebels will be hoping to have more players added to AFL lists on Friday, after four players were selected in Tuesday’s national draft.
Nineteen-year-olds Matthew Johnston and Tom Templeton are both possibilities, while Jacob Wheelahan and Charlie Lee have also attracted AFL interest.
Johnston, a North Ballarat junior product, featured for Vic Country in this year’s under-18 championships and attended the Victorian state draft combine.
Portland midfielder Templeton and medium forward Wheelahan, from Bacchus Marsh, were also invited to the screening.
Lee, who hails from South Warrnambool, only played eight games for the Rebels this season but was given permission to train with the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, North Ballarat Roosters’ rover Nick Rippon could also be selected.
Rippon won the JJ Liston Trophy in the Victorian Football League this season after a superb finish to the year.
